15 Films That Took Major Strides In Animation
14. The Incredibles
The Incredibles had many hurdles to overcome when Pixar began production. It was the first ever CGI movie of theirs to have a solely human cast, and that brought many problems. First was the need to have the people be believable and not look like gimmicky rubber, which would've be hard with Elastigirl's power-set, and also long flowing hair, and the inescapable visible threading when fabric rips.
Among these, a credible human cast were the easiest issue to solve, but for such a character like Violet her hair was a big fret whilst animating. Organic materials were difficult for computers to simulate at the time and despite that Pixar came out victorious, by producing five different types of hair generation for the scenarios Violet's silky, lengthy, and straight hair would find itself in. Even if it did take six months to render it, it was a colossal achievement in the early 2000's.
When Bob Parr's superhero suit would get damaged on his secretive missions and when he'd go to Edna Mode to repair it, it would show the stitching it was made from. This wasn't the big deal Violet's hair was, but generating the a realistic hole through cloth helped future films such as Disney's Frozen 2 have outfits jam-packed with the tiniest of etchings.
