15 Films You Didn't Realise Were Remakes

EDtv tells the story of a talentless nobody called Ed who agrees to have his life turned into a reality show. (Also known as every modern reality show.) Immediately after the show airs, it is dubbed a failure due to Ed's uninteresting life. But after he sleeps with his brother's ex, the ratings skyrocket. The film didn't win over critics who complained the premise was too similar to The Truman Show, which only came out the previous year.

However, EDtv isn't a copy of The Truman Show; it's a remake of the 1994 Canadian film, Louis 19, King of the Airwaves. In this comedy, a TV fanatic called Louis Jobin wins a contest on a show, unaware that the prize involves having his own life turned into a 24/7 reality series. Due to Louis' mundane life, the studio executives begin injecting exciting things into the show to boost the ratings. Louis 19 was Canada's most successful film of the year.
