The Big Job is a British comedy which was released in 1965. It follows a group of robbers who steal £50,000 from a bank but are apprehended by the police soon after. Just before they are arrested, they hide the money inside a tree and plan to collect it when they are released from prison. When they get out of jail 15 years later and return to the tree, they learn it is now inside a police station, forcing them to try all sorts of over-elaborate schemes to retrieve it.

The remake, Blue Streak, has the same story but it ups the stakes since the lead character, played by Martin Lawrence, pretends to be a cop to work at the station in question. Although Blue Streak concludes with Lawrence's character successfully obtaining the diamond, The Big Job has a more anticlimactic ending. After the robbers find the tree in the station, they discover that all the money has been eaten by mice.
