15 Fixes To Save The DC Extended Universe
7. A Little More Colour Would Be Nice
Many believe that the DCEU movies to date are, despite their splendid cinematography, visually drab. While the individual shots themselves are beautifully composed, they're colour-timed in post-production to look far more washed-out, such that one enterprising fan actually colour-corrected Man of Steel, restoring the brightness and basically making the whole movie look much more vivid.
Batman v Superman similarly had fairly cold, washed-out tones, and Suicide Squad faced a lot of criticism for failing to inject much colour, given how much of the film takes place at night. This was particularly problematic for the near-incomprehensible finale.
Nobody's asking for neon lights or even something that's as sunny as a Marvel movie, but there's absolutely a middle-ground here, where environments don't look so consistently drained of life, and Superman's costume is given the majestic on-screen look it so desperately craves (though, in fairness, rumours point to Supes having an all-black suit in Justice League).
