15 Foreign Language Horror Movie Gems Hidden On Netflix
2. Trollhunter (2010)
This hilarious Norwegian comedy horror follows a group of students who are investigating a series of mysterious bear killings that have been happening in the wilderness. During their travelling investigation they happen across a secretive hunter who they think holds the key to why the killings are happening. But after doing some digging they discover that he actually hunts giant ancient trolls. The film takes its utterly ludicrous premise and just runs with it. The key to why it works so well is its consistently aware of its own sense of ridiculousness, playing around with our expectations of what exactly a troll his, how that would function in the real world and why the public at large is unaware of them. Theres some terrific CGI used to bring the creatures to life and it contains many set-pieces you wont soon forget. Available on US/Australian/New Zealand/Belgian Netflix
