If you took a look at the synopsis for MacGruber, we'd understand if you were utterly confused. The idea of a MacGyver-esque action hero who is really, really bad at his job might not seem appealing at first, but it's actually a truly hilarious movie.

Starting off as a Saturday Night Live sketch, it gained so much popularity due to its ridiculous premise that it was given the big screen treatment back in 2010. Instead of a five minute bit, we're given a full movie to watch MacGruber - played by Will Forte - take on arch-nemesis, Dieter Von Cunth, and try to stop him from launching a nuclear warhead.

This leads to a number of insane situations, that on paper, are completely and utterly nonsensical. However, the commitment of Forte, the surprisingly hilarious Ryan Phillipe as Lieutenant Piper and Kristen Wiig as Vicki, to their roles helps make the movie get to the level of silliness that it needs to get too.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, especially those of us who like their humour to be a little more subtle or smart. However, if you like your jokes to be silly and ridiculous, then MacGruber is exactly the sort of comedy that will have you in stitches.
