15 Funniest Comedies Of The Last Decade
7. Bridesmaids (2011)
Paul Feig might've made his name in the world of TV, having a creative hand in critically-acclaimed comedies like The Office and Arrested Development, but it was his third feature film, Bridesmaids, that proved that he could bring his genius to the big screen.
Starring Kristen Wiig as Annie, a failed baker who is asked to be the maid of honour at her best friend's wedding, the film follows her, the bride-to-be and the rest of the bridesmaids as they try to make it to the wedding in one piece and keep their friendship intact.
Although there had been female-led comedies previously to this one, Bridesmaid felt different because we got to see actresses in comedy usually reserved for men like The Hangover. This is partly down to the hilarious script by Wiig and Annie Mumolo and direction from Feig, but if it wasn't for Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy all being brilliant comedic actors, then who knows if the film would've had as much success as it did.
While it's a gross-out comedy of the highest quality, filled with an abundance of x-rated jokes and toilet humour, Bridesmaids also has plenty of heart too. This not only made it a must-see movie when it was released, but one that's still funny all these years later.
