Time will tell if this "spiritual sequel" to Dazed and Confused will achieve the same cult status as its predecessor, but, like the first film, it depicts the stupid conversations people having while getting high with spot-on accuracy.

Willoughby (Wyatt Russell), the baseball team's resident stoner and Twilight Zone enthusiast, takes the world's biggest bong-hit and begins discussing the human race's telepathic abilities. As he explains, "The f**king Mayans knew it, man. The druids f**king knew it", but we've lost the ability over the years. So they decide, in their heightened state, to try to regain their lost ability, attempting to read each other's minds. Predictably, it doesn't work out for them.

Linklater is so good and making these authentic, hang-out moments and that's what makes the scene so funny. Yes, it's stupid what they're doing, but a lot of us have probably had similar conversations under similar circumstance. The fact that they're all so sincere about the attempt makes it that much funnier.
