The Film:

An extremely nasty low-budget thriller that never seems to have got a theatrical release in the UK. Still, it's on Netflix so plenty have seen it. Eight people become involved in a ridiculously sadistic game of Would You Rather? that will give you nightmares in order to win some money.

The Ending:

With mediocre directing and not enough genuine terror, this horror film wasn't doing brilliantly anyway but it was at least powerful and disturbing. There are moments in this film which make the Saw franchise look like nothing. So, we've gone through all this horrifying unpleasantness, which eventually ends in the main character reluctantly killing the last survivor and winning the game. This way, she gets the money to help her cancer-stricken brother get treatment.

Then she returns home and discovers her brother had actually committed suicide via an overdose earlier that day and it was all for nothing. All the horrid stuff earlier on was entirely pointless and one leaves the film with a sour taste in their mouth.

Downbeat endings can work, but ending the film on such a downer for no reason other than shock for shock's sake isn't clever or scary; it's just lazy and pointless. This ultimately lets the film down quite a bit.
