15 Great Movies From The 2010s That Are Frustratingly Underrated

1. Cloud Atlas

Plot: Six highly different stories in six different timelines unfold simultaneously. It's still hard to believe they actually pulled this off.

Cloud Atlas is the unacknowledged masterpiece of the 21st century.

With six great narratives, this is an exceptionally rich and diverse viewing experience that has the potency of several film masterpieces in just one movie. An astonishing mix of genres and emotions, Cloud Atlas is alternately frightening, thrilling, sad, hilarious, moving and philosophical and it'll probably make you cry several times. Nevertheless, for all the different emotions Cloud Atlas creates the main feeling will be a sense of euphoria.

Cloud Atlas, with its great cast, beautiful soundtrack, masterful visuals and tremendous screenplay, seems like it'd be a sure-fire classic, but sadly it's received little attention over the years.

It has a Rotten Tomatoes score of only 66% and was a polarizing film, which is incredibly unfair. Sure, it's pretentious, but it's also incredibly entertaining and touching, so if certain other art-house films which are far more pretentious and less accessible than this (looking at you, Tree of Life) can be critically acclaimed, surely this should've been as well?

Once again, we'll just have to hope its reputation improves with time.
