15 Greatest Cult Actors Of All Time

4. Malcolm McDowell

What happened to Malcolm McDowell? He starred in two of the greatest films of all time in If... and A Clockwork Orange, and was widely considered at the time to be one of the most precociously talented actors in the industry. So why, then, did his career steadily drift towards cameos in TV shows and starring roles in some of the poorest B-movies of all time (Rob Zombie's Halloween, anyone)? It doesn't make any sense. He lights up every film in which he appears, even if those films are disasters, and remains beloved by his fans. But ask anyone what they remember Malcolm McDowell for, and there is little doubt that it will be for his iconic bowler hat, false eyelashes and glass of Moloko-Plus. McDowell has never stopped working, and his cameos are a welcome distraction from the dross of the films that he frequents, but his cult following has never really expanded since his heyday.
