4. Game Over, Hoffman (Saw 3D)

John Kramer's successor Detective Hoffman finally gets his just desserts at the conclusion of the original run of Saw movies, being kidnapped by Dr. Gordon, who had secretly become Jigsaw's third and final apprentice, tasked with avenging Jill's death in exchange for Jigsaw no longer keeping any secrets from him.

Gordon then chains Hoffman up in the iconic Saw bathroom next to the corpses of Adam and Zep, and when Hoffman reaches for a hacksaw to free himself, Gordon grabs it and throws it away ("I don't think so").

Hoffman screams that he can't do this to him, but Gordon leaves him with a terrifically sassy "Game over" and closes the door, condemning him to presumably die of thirst.

While it's entirely possible that the impending eighth film could retcon Hoffman's death somehow, it's extremely unlikely that Hoffman managed to survive Kramer's ultimate revenge plan, and oh how satisfying it was.
