15 Greatest Dying Words Of Iconic Movie Characters

9. Billy Costigan - The Departed

The DepartedWarner Bros. The Line: "I am killing you." How He Dies: Oh, sweet irony. Just moments after blubbering rat cop Collin Sullivan (Matt Damon) asks undercover cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) to "just f***ing kill ", to which Costigan replies that he is (by turning him into the police), the elevator doors open and Sullivan's corrupt cop buddy Barrigan (James Badge Dale) blasts a hole clean through Costigan's head, his brains and skull sent splattering over the wall behind them. Whether you'd seen Infernal Affairs and knew it was coming or had absolutely no idea, the bitter irony of Costigan's last words cut deep, and the only thing that cuts deeper in this scene is the fact that, well, the good guy everyone's rooting for gets snuffed out in such a brutally efficient manner. Superb direction, writing and acting like this is what takes The Departed to the next level, and makes it a rare remake that far outdoes its source material, though some will naturally disagree.
