15 Greatest Fictional Bands Of All Time
12. CB4 (from CB4)
CB4 may not have been as imposing or influential as the rap group they were spoofing, but they put up a good enough front to make songs like "Straight Outta Locash" feel genuine.
The songs themselves are obvious comedic riffs on classic NWA songs -- some more obvious than others -- so it's hard to call CB4's music original. Still, the writers of these tracks show an obvious appreciation for early gangsta rap and solid instincts when it comes to parroting the over-the-top misogyny and hyper-violent idealism that NWA made so popular.
In fact, the movie was wholly embraced by hardcore rap icons Flavor Flav, Easy-E, and Ices T and Cube. Mostly because Chris Rock managed to take all of the ridiculous machismo and misanthropy that rap was known for and put it through a more socially aware lens.
Best Song: "Straight Outta Locash"
It's not just a great parody. It's a DEAD ON parody, complete with great lyrical flow and killer rhymes.
