11. Goldeneye- You know the name, you know the number
After a six year break, Bond was back. A lot had happened in those six years, the Cold War had ended, the Berlin Wall was down and there were doubts as to whether a character like Bond was still relevant. Goldeneye was the first of a new era of Bond movies and there was genuine concern that there was no longer an audience for 007's antics anymore. Was he a relic if a bygone age where the West was good, the East was bad and a raised eyebrow could get you out of just about anything? Undeterred, the filmmakers embraced their icon, rather than disowning and remodeling him, and this suitably slick tagline dryly reminds us that the master is back once again and with an altogether more serious tone. Bear in mind that at this point, Die Another Day and its invisible car naffness seemed a million miles away. Bond was back with a bang.
