15 Historical Figures Who Deserve A Movie (And Who Should Play Them)

7. Simo Hayha

url-8 The sniper with the all time highest number of kills, Hayha fought in one of the most overlooked theaters in WWII; the 1940 Winter war between Finland and the Soviet Union. With temperatures routinely dropping to ˆ’4 degrees Fahrenheit or lower and with only a few hours of daylight, Hayha still manage to score an average of five kills a day. Entire Russian task forces were sent out to find and kill Hayha but were unsuccessful. Eventually, a Russian soldier shot Hayha in the head but miraculously he was not killed although he spent years recovering. A film about Hayha would obviously have to focus on his legendary sniping abilities and I think it would be a good idea to depict it almost in the same way that the Hurt Locker by showing him almost as someone who doesn't know how to do anything else or at least doesn't enjoy anything else. Even if that is not historically accurate, it would make for a very interesting film that would showcase a part of World War Two that is almost never mentioned. Casting Choice: Neither looks like him at all but I think either Jeremy Renner or James Caviezel would both play Hayha well as a fanatical perfectionist which seems the right way to play him.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
