15 Horror Movies Since 2000 So Awful They'e Genuinely Horrifying

5. The Ring Two

The Devil Inside
DreamWorks Pictures

The Plot:

Following the events of The Ring, Samara Morgan returns to possess Rachel's son and she fights to save him.

Why It Sucks:

It was the sequel to an acclaimed horror film, Naomi Watts returned and they even brought in Hideo Nakata, the original Ring's director, to direct. What could possibly go wrong? Everything.

This is, without a doubt, one of the worst horror sequels ever. The cursed tape barely even appears and this settles instead for a seemingly endless collection of wet jump scares without build-up, creepiness or atmosphere and a painfully generic possession story. Even Hideo Nakata, who was previously responsible for some of the creepiest visuals in horror cinema, lets the side down with his disinterested direction.

Fine, so the first film was over-praised and any film which uses a badly-rendered pack of CGI deer to try and scare its audience was never going to work, but given all the talent this assembled (including Sissy Spacek, who's wasted in a useless cameo), this had no excuse to be, let's face it, one of the worst horror films ever made.
