15 Horror Movies Since 2000 So Awful They'e Genuinely Horrifying
6. The Happening
The Plot:
A mysterious force causes everyone to start committing suicide.
Why It Sucks:
This was meant to be a science-fiction horror film, but before it premiered, Shyamalan abruptly said it was a B Movie. This is a sign he knew how bad the movie was and was clearly trying to salvage this cinematic disaster. If you watch The Happening and think of it as a silly B-Movie in the vein of Sharknado, you'll have a good time. If you go in expecting a movie that is competent on any level, you might end smashing the TV in anger.
This has a frightening premise, but the final product is a rare horror film that doesn't have a single scare. Then again, when a film's idea of a big scare is wind blowing, it's hard to expect anything much. Meanwhile, the script and acting are horrendous and Mark Wahlberg gives one of the worst performances in film history as a confused science teacher who talks to a plant. This is, by several clear miles, the worst of Shyamalan's paranormal thrillers.
