15 Horror Movies Since 2000 So Awful They'e Genuinely Horrifying

2. The Devil Inside

The Plot:

A woman takes parts in some unauthorized exorcisms while she tries to work out what happened to her mother, who committed some murders while being exorcised.

Why It Sucks:

Luckily found-footage has died out, but horror fans will always remember the time they dominated the genre with sadness. The movie which sums up this awful sub-genre is The Devil Inside, which is more or less the worst of the bunch. With this one, a one-star rating feels overly generous.

Without scares or any fully-formed plot, The Devil Inside is nothing more than endless handheld shots of darkly colored buildings and possessed people doing gymnastics. The acting, writing and directing are all bottom of the barrel and the only scary thing here is just how under-cooked and meaningless it is.

It's also notable for having one of the worst film endings ever; it ends in the middle of a car crash with a web-link saying viewers can find out more that way. Really? Really?

To add insult to injury, the web-link isn't even active anymore. The only good thing that can be said about this ending is that it represents the movie perfectly; a car crash that feels incomplete.
