15 Horror Movies Since 2000 So Awful They'e Genuinely Horrifying
13. Truth Or Dare
The Plot:
Some ghosts play a deadly game of Truth or Dare with some luckless students.
Why It Sucks:
People, taken over by ghosts, do a ridiculous Chesire Cat grin and ask "Truth or dare?"... this is supposed to be scary?
Given that these ghosts are doing their best Nicolas Cage impersonations instead of acting even remotely sinister, this is a film that's likely to have people in utter hysterics instead of actually scaring them. At the screening this writer was at, the whole cinema was roaring with laughter.
Truth or Dare is one of 2018's biggest turkeys so far. It's directed with zero flair by Jeff 'Kick-Ass 2' Wadlow (who needs to be kicked out of Hollywood already), it's entirely lacking in suspense and substance and the bloodless PG-13 death scenes are painfully underwhelming. Worst of all, the film has one of the worst horror movie endings in recent memory that's the most gratingly obvious sequel set-up since Independence Day Resurgence.
If this launches a franchise, that will be truly tragic. In the midst of this horror revival we're currently experiencing, such a lame PG-13 ghost story simply isn't acceptable anymore.
