15 Horror Movies Since 2000 So Awful They'e Genuinely Horrifying

12. Saw V

The Devil Inside
Lionsgate

The Film:

A detective chases after Jigsaw's apprentice while five more people are put through a sadistic test.

Why It Sucks:

Saw is only half a good franchise. The first, second and sixth films are pretty solid and the recent eighth one is perfectly OK, but the rest of them were tiresome gore-fests with abominably convoluted plots.

While Saw 3D is a godawful film, Saw V takes it as the worst Saw movie. Filled with useless flashbacks, flat storytelling, exasperating gore and terrible acting, this is basically all the worst elements of the franchise in one place. Even worse, the franchise's best elements, including Tobin Bell, moral ambiguity, big twists and gruesome traps, are either hardly in evidence or not there at all.

This took the already struggling series to new lows, although Saw VI did give the series a temporary return to form a year later. This is, without a doubt, the worst and most tedious installment of the series and most embarassingly of all, despite being a Saw film it's never disturbing and barely lives up to its 18 certificate.
