15 Horror Movies You Probably Didn't Know Were Based On Books
12. The Midnight Meat Train
It's a real shame that this one doesn't seem to be as well known or talked as it should be. The Midnight Meat Train is a gnarly little slice of horror cinema that refuses to hold anything back.
Taken from Clive Barker's Books of Blood series from the 1980s, this Bradley Cooper lead movie follows photographer Leon as he investigates mysterious disappearances tied to a subway train. Soon after diving into his investigation, Leon comes to learn that sometimes curiosity can do far worse than kill the cat.
Despite its source material being much shorter in length, the movie manages to never once feel as though it drags. The entire thing is nerve-wracking, with every moment feeling as though there could be something truly gruesome lurking around the corner. This feeling of unrelenting suspense is taken to an even greater level by Vinnie Jones's terrifying performance as the villainous butcher. He, much like the movie itself, is a force of fear incarnate. As frightening as he may be though, nothing compares to what the third act of this film has in store.
