And just like that, we have a secret, previously unannounced Ghostbusters movie.

Despite the series being rebooted as recently as 2016, Sony are pressing ahead with a continuation of the original Ghostbusters timeline with Jason Reitman directing and Ivan Reitman producing. The surviving veteran cast are apparently coming back (as Dan Aykroyd unwittingly spoiled months ago) and this will be a passing of the torch story with a new cast of four teenagers.

Hot on the tail of the announcement, Reitman released the film's first teaser, which is no more than a mood board revealing a glimpse at ECTO-1 but it was incredibly effective all the same in building hype.

If it can get over the initial controversy (propelled by reboot star Leslie Jones, partly), this should be one of the most anticipated movies of next year.
