15 Huge Controversies That Rocked Star Wars
14. Josh Trank Gets "Sacked"
It's hard to tell exactly what happened with Josh Trank - who was initially planned to make a Star Wars spin-off - but what we do know is that he was dropped less than a year after he was hired. Naturally, as news of on-set scandal and odd behaviour emerged from the Fantastic Four reboot, fans and the media began sensing a disturbance in the Force.
The accepted story quickly became that Trank had been effectively fired for his behaviour on Fantastic Four, with LucasFilm worried about trusting him with the brand. Cue a second almighty blemish to his profile, even despite LucasFilm's official line that it was “a privilege to collaborate with Josh” and that they were "grateful for the energy and love of 'Star Wars' that he brought to the process.”
You just can't keep a good conspiracy theory down, and while Trank publicly came out to say that leaving was "the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life" (people who are sacked don't get to decide), the entirely different, more damaging theory seems to prevail still. Regardless of how damaging it could be to Trank's career in the long run.
