3. The Blue Hint - Love, Simon
The delightful and wholly underappreciated Love, Simon was easily the love story of the year - yes, even more so than A Star Is Born - with Greg Berlanti offering a portrait of teenage homosexual identity that is mostly left out of mainstream cinema.
The story obviously follows Simon, who emails a mysterious fellow student who comes out as gay using an anonymous online school noticeboard. He then spends most of his time trying to work out who the mysterious "Blue" is, only to discover that it's one of his friends, which comes as a surprise to him.
But it shouldn't have, because there's a massive hint early on when the crass Martin (who blackmails him after discovering his secret) makes a joke about Abby being black and Jewish - calling her "Blueish". In the end, it turns out that Simon's friend Bram - who is both black and Jewish - is actually Blue.
