11. The Painting Spells It Out - Incredibles 2

Naturally, as a Pixar movie, the hugely profitable Incredibles 2 was absolutely rammed with Easter Eggs and references, including the usual Pixar trademarks from across their entire catalogue like the appearance of the Pizza Planet truck, John Ratzenberger's cameo and the A113 reference.

But the film has an even more subtle detail hidden in it that spells out one of the biggest narrative anxiety points. As well as dealing with superhero accountability, teenage and masculine identity anxiety and parenting troubles, it also deals with the destruction of the traditional family unit. Elastigirl going back to superhero work is shown to cause a rift in her family that Mr Incredible initially struggles to deal with.

And to highlight that separation anxiety, at one point, in Helen's hotel room, there's a large painting that represents her removal from the rest of her family. Each of the shapes even seems to correlate to a family member.
