15 Incredible Movies Still To Come In 2015

5. Carol

Release Date: November 20 (US), November 27 (UK) The Hype: Director Todd Haynes (Velvet Goldmine, Far From Heaven) adapts Patricia Highsmith's beloved 1950s novel The Price of Salt, depicting the relationship between a young department store clerk (Rooney Mara) and an older, married woman (Cate Blanchett). Co-stars include Sarah Paulson and Kyle Chandler, How Well Will It Do?: Carol premiered at Cannes to an extraordinary 95% critical approval, so don't expect that one to budge much over the course of awards season. The low-budget combined with awards buzz should see it do well at the box office, and for many commentators following the early stages of this year's Oscar race, it's already considered the front-runner for Best Picture (while Rooney Mara tied for Cannes' Best Actress award, and so should also be considered a strong prospect for an Oscar). Whether it can sustain momentum until February, though, is anyone's guess.
