15 Incredibly Late Sequels That Took Decades To Arrive

5. The Color Of Money - 25 Years

The Previous Film: The Hustler (1961) Based on the 1959 novel of the same name, The Hustler stars Paul Newman as Eddie Felson, a con-man who uses his strong pool abilities to reap it in gambling on games. Turning unexpectedly dark in its final act after a more entertaining first section, despite being lesser seen nowadays the film has become regarded as a classic. The Late Sequel: The Color Of Money (1986) Scorsese's sequel picks up years later and despite some stylistic differences is a pretty typical continuation of the story. Tom Cruise plays a young pool player who comes up against Eddie, now retired from hustling. The Color Of Money doesn't really require you to have seen The Hustler, so for many it was their first introduction to Eddie. This time around Newman won the Oscar he'd lost out on with the first film. Was It Worth The Wait? It's really down to personal opinion; both the films are pretty spot on, although Scorsese's involvement in the latter makes it more popular with modern audiences.
