15 Incredibly Late Sequels That Took Decades To Arrive

4. The Mother Of Tears - 27 Years

The Previous Film: Inferno (1980) Italian director and giallo master Dario Argento's The Three Mothers trilogy tells the story of a trio of evil witches who over centuries took control of the world. The first film, Suspiria, is highly regarded, with a small scope that betrays the global events the overarching story deals with. The sequel, Inferno, is a weaker entry but served to expand much of the mythology. The Late Sequel: The Mother Of Tears (2007) It took a ridiculously long time for us to meet the head of the witches and see how the story concluded. As the closer of the trilogy The Mother Of Tears does feel like a proper escalation of the story; after starting in a dancing school decades before, the action is amped up to have witches all converging on Rome. Was It Worth The Wait? The film was a passion project for Argento and really one made for the fans. So if Inferno had left you hungry to see what the Third Mother would be like then almost thirty years was a price worth paying. If you hadn't been convinced by the earlier outings (or Argento in general) then it's easy to be ambivalent.
