15 Indie Horror Movies To Watch This Halloween
12. The Void
A gloriously 80s-inspired horror oozing with style despite its low budget, The Void may not benefit from a particularly skilled cast, but it absolutely makes the most of its claustrophobic concept (a group of people trapped inside a hospital face off against a brutal cult and tentacled monsters).
Writer-directors Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie smartly milk the slow-burn, suspense-filled build up for every drop it's worth, while the creature effects are surprisingly impressive for such a low-budget production.
Undeniably indebted to John Carpenter, this agreeably character-driven ode to Lovecraft won't be for all tastes, especially as it's pretty light on actual plot, but as a visceral, stylish experience, it's a total blast.
