15 Insufferable Movie Protagonists That Ruined Their Movies

10. Greg - Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

Bella Swan
Fox

Unlike the far, far superior novel on which it is based, Diary of a Wimpy Kid failed to come up with a main character we could root for. The Greg from the books is a flawed kid, but in a believable way and he's definitely an engaging character, while the film's version of Greg, despite a good performance from young actor Zachary Gordon, is just an unpleasant piece of work.

Greg is an exceptionally selfish character who only cares about himself and becoming popular. He also treats the guy who's supposed to be his best mate, Rowley (who's far nicer than him) like trash; during the film he gets Rowley into trouble and doesn't even apologize after Rowley breaks his arm thanks to Greg.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is not a good movie at all but if its lead character hadn't been quite so unlikable, it might've been a perfectly enjoyable viewing.
