15 Insufferable Movie Protagonists That Ruined Their Movies

8. Charlie Mortdecai - Mortdecai

Johnny Depp has played many irritating, hyper-active characters over the last decade, but his leading turn in this dire comedy was truly the lowest of the low.

With Charlie Mortdecai, an art dealer and swindler, he is such a strange and over-the-top - yet also painfully unfunny - character that audiences will not only find him infuriating, but will also feel a strange sense of pity towards him.

He truly is one of the most annoying characters imaginable and every moment he's on screen is utterly cringe-inducing. As it should go without saying, spending an entire movie with this man is not much fun.

While the script is all-around poorly-done, it's largely thanks to this character that Mortdecai is, let's be honest, among the most annoying films ever made. It's also the worst performance of Johnny Depp's career and another sad reminder of how the talented Depp has completely lost his way in recent years.
