15 Interesting Facts About The Daniel Craig Bond Films
14. The Vesper Martini Is Ordered Verbatim From The Novel
Considering that Casino Royale is an adaptation of a novel, theres an astounding amount of difference between the film and the source material. Since the book was released half a century before the movie, its understandable that this was the case, but that doesnt mean that the film completely ignored its roots. After all, Casino Royale, despite not being the first Bond book, was the first to feature the origins of Bonds iconic catchphrase, shaken, not stirred.
Fittingly, one of the ways that the movie was true to the book was the way in which Bond orders his drink of choice. Craving a Vesper Martini for the first time he speaks to the bartender "Just a moment. Three measures of Gordons, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?"
The dialogue is taken verbatim from the novel, in both instance, leaving Felix Leiter thoroughly impressed and likely pleasing a few die-hard Fleming fans.
