15 Interesting Facts About The Daniel Craig Bond Films
12. Henry Cavill Was The Second Choice For Bond
Although noted actors like Julian McMahon, Goran Visnjic, Dominic West, Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington, and Rupert Friend were all in serious contention for the role, it was relative newcomer Henry Cavill who was the studios backup choice should Craig not accept.
The biggest knock against him was that he was too young for the part. The 22 year-old, despite being director Martin Campbells first choice, was thought to not be able to convey the experience necessary for the character at such a young age, especially when compared to the 37 year-old Craig.
The interesting thing is that when Craig does vacate the role, which is thought to be sooner rather than later, Cavill ought to find himself in contention again, now being a much more appropriate age. Could we see someone play both superhero and super-spy or is one franchise enough for Cavill? Only time will tell.
