Roald Dahl€™s books always walked the line between fanciful and disturbing, and that was part of the fun of it. The 1971 film version of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory did a pretty good job of balancing the two halves. When she first reveals her monstrous self to a room full of like-minded witches, it truly is a grotesque sight to behold. Channelling fundamental human fears, the Grand High Witch seeks to wipe the planet clean of children - but it is her iconic, horrifying design that really makes her stand out from the pantheon of family movie villains.
