15 Likely Movie Sequels That Hopefully Will Never Happen

12. Planes 3

Previous Movies: A lame spin-off from the Cars franchise created by DisneyToon Studios originally intended for direct-to-video release, 2013's Planes hit cinemas to mostly negative reviews but made $219 million on a modest $50 million budget, kick-starting a profitable little franchise for the studio. The slightly less-terrible Planes: Fire and Rescue was released earlier this year, and while it "only" made $147 million, the again-modest budget made this a significant financial win. The Sequel: Though nothing official has been said yet, it's almost certain that Planes 3 is already in production in some form, because even if it made half of what the previous film did, it would still leave Disney in the black, especially considering the enormous amounts of merchandise these sorts of movies shift. Why It Should Never Happen: It's pretty self-evident, really: neither of the films are particularly good, and they just feel like a mild rehash of the already on-thin-ice Cars franchise, which itself has a needless third movie in the works. With a Trains movie also green-lit by Disney, is there really any need for a third movie about these damn planes?
