Not only is Cell adapted from one of Stephen Kings better (if overly familiar) later novels, but it features Samuel L Jackson and John Cusack, who previously appeared together in 1408. The plot is typical King: when a mysterious cell phone signal transforms the users into bloodthirsty creatures, a group of survivors band together in New England and eventually encounter a villain known as The Raggedy Man. Which sounds similar to the plot of The Stand, but until that adaptation reaches the big screen, Cell will have to do. If nothing else, its worth checking out to see if rumours of a cameo by Lloyd Kaufman are true. However, be warned: the director is Tod Williams, whose previous horror feature was Paranormal Activity 2.
