15 Most Disturbing Horror Movies Ever
13. The Human Centipede Part 2
The infamous first instalment
of Tom Six’s gross, but undeniably inventive, body horror franchise may have
introduced the gruesome premise of the titular abomination to the public and provoked
predictable ire upon its 2009 release. But despite the disgusting idea (the eponymous
experiment is achieved by stitching three unfortunate souls
mouth-to-well-you-get-the-idea), the finalized film was actually a relatively
standard horror.
The sequel, however, made sure to correct this, switching tone for an austere and dour drama that follows a loner’s attempts to recreate the first film. Taking in sandpaper and barb wire wrapped genitals, as well as depictions of rape, multiple graphic murders, and even an onscreen infanticide, the film is far more graphic than its predecessor and managed to earn a rare ban from the BBFC upon its initial release.
Not that any of this stopped it from being critically reviled—we said it was disturbing, not particularly good.
