15 Most Hated Comic Book Movie Characters Ever

1. Catwoman – Catwoman

What on earth were you thinking Halle Berry? In 2002, Berry went down in Academy Award history as the first (and to date only) black woman to be awarded an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Monster’s Ball yet just a couple of years later decided that a starring role in the much maligned Catwoman would be a good career move.

The standalone movie bore little reference to Batman canon, reinventing the iconic character of Catwoman and not in a good way either. Gone was classic Catwoman’s cat burglar alter ego Selina Kyle, replaced with Patience Phillips – a meek graphic designer imbued with superhuman powers after being saved from drowning by a gang of magical cats. Yes, really.

To be fair to Berry, she was always going to suffer by comparison to the many actresses who perfectly pulled of the iconic role before her (Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Michelle Pfeiffer included). Nevertheless, the movie was a stinker fully deserving of its four Razzie awards and Berry’s performance goes down in history as the worst interpretation of Catwoman to date.
