15 Most Hated Comic Book Movie Characters Ever

14. Emma Frost – X-Men: First Class

As attractive as she is morally ambiguous, Emma Frost is a complex character who straddles the line between villain and hero. Equipped not only with telepathy and the ability to shapeshift into diamond form, the White Queen has shown herself to be both narcissistic and compassionate during her nigh on forty-year tenure in the Marvel comics but is probably best known for her acerbic, dry wittedness and icy disposition.

Maybe ‘ice queen’ was what Mad Men actress January Jones was going for when she was cast as Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class, but what she actually delivered was far from the fan favourite comic book incarnation. Granted Jones definitely looked the part in her 1960s-style get-up but rather than Frost’s trademark cool detachment, her performance felt bored and phoned in with nary a sniff of her signature wit.

Was it just coincidence that the film version of Emma Frost was discreetly and rather unceremoniously killed off in between subsequent X-Men instalments? Probably not.
