15 Most Hated Comic Book Movie Characters Ever

13. Robin – Batman Forever, Batman & Robin

It isn’t too hard to find things to criticise in the latter two instalments of the first live action Batman film series. After the departure of Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader and director Tim Burton, the franchise quickly went downhill. And while Batman Forever and Batman & Robin were filled to the brim with miscastings and misjudgements, one of their most noteworthy was their treatment of Robin.

Played by Chris O’Donnell, the Robin in these two flicks was less trusty sidekick and more whiny and increasingly annoying adolescent tw*t. Gone were the iconic short shorts of yesteryear replaced instead with a shiny, armour-like get-up complete with a ridiculously prominent codpiece that screamed over-compensation and distractingly rock-hard nipples.

Perhaps it was an attempt to modernize and sexualize the character but it really had everyone pining for the more wholesome, ‘holy guacamole’ spouting Robin of the Swinging Sixties.
