15 Most Hated Comic Book Movie Characters Ever
11. Daredevil – Daredevil
Some films get better with time while others, quite frankly,
don’t. If ever there was a glaring example of the latter within the world of
comic book movies, it’s none other than 2003’s disappointing Daredevil. Ben
Affleck plays the titular blind lawyer turned super-sensory vigilante hero but
with the kind of begrudging enthusiasm of an actor who hadn’t turned in a
decent film since Good Will Hunting.
It’s a dull and one dimensional interpretation of the Daredevil that Frank Miller expanded upon and made so influential in the 1980s. In fact, it was such a bad performance that it partly earned Affleck a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor in 2004 (though his roles in the equally bad Gigli and Paycheck also helped secure him the Razzie too).
To Affleck’s credit, however, he’s fully aware what a disaster Daredevil was. He’s reportedly expressed since how much he dislikes the movie and once upon a time said that the experience had put him off playing other superheroes in the future.
Looks like he spoke too soon because not much more than a decade later he’d be playing Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Whether that career move was for better or worse is still up for debate.
