Scarlet Witch's story has been one of tragedy. First, her country was demolished, her brother and her tortured and turned into weapons, and then her brother died. She joined the Avengers and it all got worse; she failed to secure an explosion that killed hundreds, setting off the Civil War that led to her becoming a fugitive, and having to run from her friends, her loved ones.

And then Infinity War. Throughout the film, she tries to protect the only person she loves. But no matter what she does, he's hurt -- worse and worse -- death by degrees. But she believes she can save him. But... she can't. She has to kill him.

Wanda uses her power, derived from the stone that gives her love life, to destroy the stone that is him... and she does, blasting him into pieces, to save everything. But even that is for nothing. Thanos merely reverses time, brings Vision back, and kills him again.

She dies, having lost, having killed her husband, lost her brother, fought and suffered, for nothing.
