13. We Are Groot - Guardians Of The Galaxy
Groot is one of the softest, kindest and most beloved characters in the MCU, and we have to watch him die. Twice!
Okay, the second time is in Infinity War and doesn't quite count. Except, that's not even really the same Groot. Turns out, when Guardians ended, that little Groot sprout? That was more a child or grandchild of the original Groot.
Yep. Guardians of the Galaxy ended with Groot dying. Not only dying, but sacrificing himself to save his friends. He holds all of them, his now chosen family together, and for the first and last time says something other than "I am Groot." He says, "We are Groot."
That's bad. And then he gets turned to toast when he collides with a planet. Oh, well, at least he leaves his bratty kid?
