6. Rorschach

Arguably the best part of Zack Snyder's adaption of Watchmen, Rorschach is one of the most fascinating movie characters of recent years. Rorschach is an unyielding vigilante with a strong sense of justice and a good bit of combat ability. After the Watchmen are declared illegal, Rorschach continues to operate by night, obtaining information, fighting injustice, and in the daytime warning about nuclear war. Rorschach might just be the darkest superhero ever created, believing that some people are simply not worth saving, exemplified by his quote "and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'...and I'll look down and whisper 'no.'" Jackie Earl Haley delivers a riveting performance that lets Rorschach run away with the movie and, with the addition of his complicated motives and uncompromising approach to his job, make him the best superhero character that isn't a part of a multi-entry franchise.
