15 Most Iconic Modern Comic Book Movie Characters

7. Loki

Loki

The manipulative brother of Thor, Loki is the best villain from Marvel's film universe so far. As the god of trickery, Loki is always unpredictable and is played brilliantly by Tom Hiddleston. One reason Loki is so fascinating to watch is just how complicated his motivations are. In Thor, Loki seems to be motivated strictly to show his father that he is a worthy son. However in The Avengers, Loki has seemingly moved passed his father's acceptance and become a good old fashioned villain. Nevertheless, it seems as if Loki still has some hidden motivations and it would be a shame if future Marvel movies don't keep Loki perpetually confounding everyone around him. Joss Whedon gives Loki some of the best lines of The Avengers, in particular with his scenes opposite Thor and Black Widow, and with at least one more turn in this year's Thor 2, Loki could cement his status as an iconic movie villain.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
