12. Thor
One of the best realized film portrayals of a comic book hero, Thor's feature film debut was directed by Kenneth Branagh, who made the film a unique take on the superhero story. While not exactly the most subtle performer, Chris Hemsworth plays Thor admirably well, especially at the beginning of the film where he plays him as a bit of a spoiled brat, and has a good amount of natural charisma. While Hemsworth doesn't quite have the dramatic chops to pull off some of the scenes in the Avengers, the writing is good enough to cover up some of his flaws. As one of the most powerful members of the Avengers, Thor can keep up with the Hulk in close combat, has some limited flight ability, and uses his hammer Mjolnir to devastating effect. With Thor 2 coming out in November, and with no end to the Avengers franchise in sight, Thor stands to develop more as a character and could possibly rank higher in a future list.
