10. Peter Parker

Tobey Maguire remains the definitive movie version of the character and its a shame that his take on Spiderman ended with the abysmal Spider-Man 3. Owner of probably the most well-known origin story of any movie superhero, Maguire gives Parker a devastatingly relatable sense of social awkwardness, even if he isn't quite as funny as he is in the comics. Spider-Man 1 and 2 remain some of the best superhero films ever made but unfortunately, circumstances such as the departure of Sam Raimi, the recasting of the character, and the legal problems that keep him out of the cinematic version of the Avengers, prevent Parker from ranking higher on this list. With that being said, Maguire's take on the character remains one of the most affecting portrayals in any superhero movie and the current Spider-Man franchise still has a chance to push the character new heights, especially given how well received Andrew Garfield's take on the character has been.
