Going into this, all you need to know is that massive robots fight massive monsters. Sure, there's some drama and backstory...but did you see the robot smash the monster with a ship like it was a baseball bat??
Guillermo del Toro's 2013 film is perfect for turning your brain off and enjoying the action. Del Toro has always been on point with his visuals and effects, and this movie is no different. The CGI is great, the kaiju are formidable and the pilot-driven Jaegers are totally cool.
Just ignore the cliques and enjoy the cheese.
