3. Otis B. Driftwood - House Of 1000 Corpses (2003)/The Devil's Rejects (2005)
Rob Zombies House Of 1000 Corpses introduced the world to the macabre and messed up Firefly family: a collection of depraved serial killers the likes of which cinema has never seen. There are technically two different Otis P. Driftwoods to consider here and no, one of them is not Groucho Marx eccentric impresario from A Night At The Opera (Zombie pilfered the names for the murderous Firefly family from Marx Brothers movies, presumably ironically). The Otis of House Of 1000 Corpses and the Otis of The Devils Rejects are both serial killers, sexual deviants and ultraviolent psychotics, but the former is an albino and a flamboyant revolutionary, considering himself an artist: he dresses up in the skin of his victims, or creates sculptures from their bodies. The latter is a voluble, sarcastic redneck with a twisted sense of humour and a straggly hobos beard. Whichever Otis you end up meeting though, you will find yourself monumentally screwed beyond belief. As the man says, I am the Devil, and I am here to do the Devils work. Otis Driftwood is the nastiest and most flat-out sadistic of all the Firefly clan he adopted into (and considering that the Firefly family includes the huge, mad Tiny, Rufus and The Professor, not to mention the appalling Baby, thats saying something). The only thing that lets Otis down is his random nature. Content to butcher and maim people in the haphazard and unplanned manner of a hillbilly spree killer, its amazing he lives as long as he does.
